It's been a well established fact that the front axles can be disconnected on Evolution 7/8/9s, effectively making the car RWD. Thats precisely how Rhys Millen tweaked the Evos in the Fast and the Furious 3 Tokyo Drift to get them to achieve lateral motion.Those crazy JDM nutjobs have taken it one step further by changing the orientation of the motor to make it more like that of a natural FR (that's front-engine-rear-drive) vehicle. The stout 4G63 which used to run east-west is now positioned north-south with the intake and exhaust tracts resembling those of your run of the mill S/R-chassis nissans and 2JZ Toyotas. By the looks of the sheet metal fabrication involved, this is most likely not your garden variety swap.
